Here begins my six week journey of failing to learn how to be a stand up comedian. Every since I was a little kid I've always been inspired by the ability comedians have to make people happy. Now that a school project is forcing me into a new experience, I've decided to learn how to spread laughter and emotion. While it may get hard at times, the first steep is going to be to study and analyze popular comedians and see what makes them so funny. After that, I'm going to begin practicing positioning and speaking skills. This is all of course leading up to the last one or two weeks where I actually try to perform my own routines in front of a live audience. By the end of this process, I hope to transform myself into a full comedian. Right now, I think I could give 3 minutes of really cringy stand up after this project I want to be able to give an 8 to 10 minute stand up performance. This blog will track my progress and hopefully be a good place for me to post a funny joke every once in a while.

This looks like it could be a great project. Is there any particular topic you will be focusing on? I know most stand up comedians with TV shows like to focus on politics, but that would require you to be coming up with new jokes almost every day. Also, are you going to try to mimic the style of any particular comedian, combine the styles of a few, or create your own entirely?
ReplyDeleteThe topics of my comedy will be mainly based of off what happens in my daily life. You can expect stories about politics or crazy stories I've experienced. As for a comedic style, I am not shooting to mimic someone in particular. I'm looking for common trends in comedians and mimicking the common trends. Afterwards, I will be able to develop my own style from there.
DeleteHey Alejandjokes, I am really looking forward to seeing your progress throughout this project. Please fill your blog with funny jokes too I need a good laugh now and then. I was just wondering what your plan is to find "experts" on the subject.
ReplyDeleteHey Ahmed. I don't think I can fill my blog with funny jokes because that would require me to be funny in the first place. As for an expert, I have already gotten a reply from an experienced comedian who will be revealed soon.

ReplyDeleteI really like this idea. I think that your presentation is one I look forward to as your topic can be taken into many different directions. I was wondering who your expert would be and how you would show your progress throughout these six weeks. Other than that I really enjoy your blog and I can't wait for your other posts Alejandjokes.
ReplyDeleteSo my progress is going to be based on how funny I am. I am currently looking into starting a YouTube channel where I can post some funny stand-up videos.
